Dr Greg Bodeker
Originally from South Africa, Greg came to New Zealand in 1994., and founded Bodeker Scientific in 2009.
Greg's expertise is in atmospheric and climate science, and has published more than 130 papers in these fields. He has held international leadership roles in climate science, including for the World Climate Research Programme and the Global Climate Observing System. In addition to being the director of Bodeker Scientific Ltd, he is also the co-founder of Red Sky AI, and is the director of Kentron. In addition to his primary work in climate science, he has also worked as a professional software developer. Since 2009 he has been an adjunct professor at the New Zealand Climate Change Research Institute, in the School of Geography, Environment and Earth Sciences, at Victoria University of Wellington.
Greg Bodeker is the director of Bodeker Scientific Ltd, an independent research organisation operating from Alexandra. Bodeker Scientific conducts research into the chemistry and climate of Earth’s atmosphere. Greg has a PhD in Physics from the University of Natal in South Africa, and worked for the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA) for a little over 15 years before leaving in 2009 to start Bodeker Scientific. He is also the director of Kentron Ltd (an intellectual property incubator), a co-director of Red Sky AI (a company specialising in AI-based weather forecasting), and an adjunct professor at Victoria University. He has author or co-authored more than 140 paper in the international peer-reviewed literature. Greg has a passion for seeing innovation being used to transition New Zealand's economy to a long-term sustainable model.
