Florence Micoud

A nature advocate and regeneration practitioner, Florence has always loved trees and flowers.

With a Master of Economics and a graduate diploma in Sustainable Practice, Florence developed a holistic vision and practical approach for regenerating lifestyle and district across all levels: ecosystems, water, transport, building, waste, energy, economics, health, wellbeing, community resilience, and democracy.

The journey began in the garden. As an information manager for a French organic gardening magazine and visitor center, Florence researched and spread practical ecology knowledge over 30 years ago.

A Wanaka local for 20 years, Florence served as a librarian at Mount Aspiring College, where they facilitated the College Sustainability Club. They have been actively involved in numerous grassroots groups, including Local Food Wanaka, Wanaka Wastebusters, Plastic Free Wanaka, Te Kakano, and Wanaka Timebank. Florence also organized the Wanaka Climate March in 2015.

Currently,Florence owns and operates a local guided garden tour business, continuing to promote gardening in harmony with nature, regenerating land, and living sustainably. Their personal carbon footprint is below the 2025 Future Fit GHGe target, and their tourism business is carbon neutral and zero waste.

Florence facilitates the Regenerative Wanaka FB group and fosters a district-wide approach to enhancing biodiversity and community wellbeing through a public/private partnership, creating green corridors for wildlife, commuting and leisure trails, and local food, timber, and firewood growing.

Florence will be hosting the Guided Tour of Namaste Park and Gardens at the Wao Summit 2024.
