Greenhawk
What inspired you to start your sustainability journey?
Greenhawk director Darrin Brown (aka Brownie) has long been a climate champion, with greenhouse gas reduction becoming a particular focus around five years ago as climate information moved to the mainstream. After reducing his personal carbon footprint (switching the family to EVs, reducing air travel and waste, building a passive home) and calculating, offsetting and reducing his business footprint, he wanted to do more. Supporting other businesses to take climate action seemed like the biggest possible impact!
What does your company do that makes a difference?
As Chartered Accountants, we have the privilege of working with hundreds of small businesses around the motu. With an in-house Carbon Consultant now part of the team, Greenhawk’s mission to accelerate Kiwi businesses to carbon neutrality has kicked off in full force, with our Free Carbon Footprint Program.
Where would you see change in the future?
We’d love to see Kiwi SMEs calculate their Annual Emissions alongside their Annual Accounts, and make plans for reducing emissions right next to plans for improving business performance. Add goal-setting for increased workplace diversity and wellbeing to the mix and we reckon Kiwi businesses have a winning formula for sustainable success. Onward!
