Wao Climate Action Initiative x Wānaka Lavender Farm
Stef Zeestraten, Wānaka Lavender Farm, featured on Radio Wānaka to discuss the Wao Climate Action Initiative (CAI). Stef participated in a CAI workshop in 2021 as part of the Wao Summit. Stef joined the programme hoping to understand their business as a whole and trying to find out where they can learn about best practise and “what can we experiment with.” Stef has found the programme really useful for their business in getting a baseline, “we have always wondered about our carbon emissions and where we sit on the scale and what to compare it with.”
The Wao Climate Action Initiative is a 3 month program designed to enable local businesses and schools with the knowledge and tools to calculate their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and take action to reduce them. The program is fully funded by QLDC, Destination Queenstown and Lake Wanaka Tourism and is free to join. Applications for the first round have now been filled.
