This panel discussion of experts explores the crucial connection between climate change and business. Delve into the significant impact climate change adaptation and mitigation has on business now and in the future, and how it will affect your operations. This two-hour discussion will help you navigate climate-based regulations and disclosures and set you on the path to ensure your business thrives in this evolving landscape.


Join us at 6.30pm for nibbles (included in the price) and networking at the Butterfly Effect Lounge at the Lake Wānaka Centre before hand. The panel Conversation will start around 7:15pm.

Meet Your Speakers:

Blake Holgate: As the Head of Sustainable Business Development, Blake helps the bank’s ensure its clients are in the strongest position themselves to best manage increasing environmental, societal and market risk as well as seizing opportunities created by a scarcity of resources and a growing global population.

This includes contributing towards Rabobank policy submissions to government on regulation affecting the sector, producing reports and podcasts for our clients which examine issues linked to sustainable farming and developing new products and services aimed at helping clients businesses be more commercially and environmentally sustainable.

Carly Green: Carly has been involved in global Climate Change mitigation for over 20 years. She holds a PhD in International Climate Change Policy related to the Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU) sector. Carly founded Environmental Accounting Services in 2007; a consulting company focused on supporting developing countries to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through informed land use planning and sustainable practices. Her passion is working with governments to develop capacities in national land use monitoring systems for international reporting and informing national policy decision making.

Dean Hegarty: Dean leads Responsible Investment Association Australasia’s (RIAA) member engagement, events, marketing and communications functions, and heads RIAA's Aotearoa NZ branch. He works with 500+ global and locally based Asset Managers, Superfunds, Kiwisaver providers, Financial Advisors and Wealth Platforms to help them align their capital with sustainable outcomes. Dean is also a member of the National Advisory Board on Impact Investing in NZ.

John Berry: John believes that no one should have to choose between an ethical investment and a profitable one. For over a decade this belief has been embedded in Pathfinder's series of award-winning, innovative ethical funds, including KiwiSaver. John co-founded Pathfinder to change the way the investment industry manages money and since 2009 he has become an advocate for ethical investing. His talk is for anyone that would like to understand more about how a new approach to investing can dramatically help the planet, animal exploitation, the circular economy, not-for-profits and underserved communities.

Robert Beattie: Rob Beattie hails from a regenerative farm on Banks Peninsula and is a Manager in McGrathNicol's Auckland practice. He is a CFA Charterholder with a Master's degree in Applied Finance and Economics. Rob has diverse professional experience across corporate finance and restructuring, advising entities ranging from listed corporations to SMEs and government bodies. Currently pursuing a Climate and Sustainability Risk certificate, Rob combines financial expertise with a passion for sustainability. His unique perspective explores the nexus between sustainable profitability, climate risk and business failure.
